The second Conference on Economics and Society was held on 19–20 December 2024 at TEPAV in Ankara, in collaboration with TOBB University of Economics and Technology.
The Conference on Economics and Society received a large number of submissions. The submitted paper abstracts underwent a rigorous peer-review process. Ultimately, the Conference was held with the presentation of 45 papers.
The first day of the Conference began with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Çolak, Editor of the Efil Journal of Economic Research and the Journal of Economics and Society. This was followed by an invited lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Fatma Doğruel, moderated by Prof. Dr. Öner Günçavdı.
In the afternoon, parallel sessions were held. The session on Occupational Accidents and Child Labor was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Belgi Turan; the session on Foreign Trade and Migration by Assist. Prof. Dr. Burçin Kısacıkoğlu; the session on Moral Economy and Literature by Assist. Prof. Dr. Çınla Akdere; the session on Monetary Policy and Inflation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ünay Tamgaç Tezcan; the session on Gender by Prof. Dr. Hakan Ercan; the session on Environment and Climate by Prof. Dr. Erdem Seçilmiş; and the session on Geography and Institutions by Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Özel.
Following the sessions, a panel titled In Search of Stability in the Turkish Economy was held, with Prof. Dr. Güven Sak, Prof. Dr. Öner Günçavdı, Prof. Dr. Pınar Derin Güre, and Prof. Dr. Refet Gürkaynak as panelists, and chaired by Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Çolak. After the panel, Prof. Dr. Selva Demiralp honored us with an invited lecture moderated by Prof. Dr. Timur Han Gür.
The second day of the Conference began with an invited lecture by Prof. Dr. Emrah Aydınonat, moderated by Prof. Dr. Serdar Sayan. In the subsequent sessions, the session on Labor Markets and Income Distribution was chaired by Prof. Dr. Meltem Dayıoğlu; the session on Innovation and Scientific Capacity by Prof. Dr. Altuğ Yalçıntaş; the session on Game Theory and Behavioral Economics by Prof. Dr. M. Aykut Attar; the session on Finance and Banking by Prof. Dr. Timur Han Gür; the session on Energy Security by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Derin Güre; the session on Industrial and Infrastructure Policies by Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen; and the session titled Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence by Prof. Dr. Serdar Sayan.
